I think the very different European perspective on the Iraq and the Middle East reflects the fact that the Zionist lobby is not nearly as strong there as it is here. Plus the fact that there is no war mongering fundamentalist Christian evangelical movement over there -- or at least none to speak of.

Second I am still convinced that Bush does not really want war. He wants to colonize Iraq without war by provoking a coup. Hence all the sabre rattling, threats, and war propaganda.

Now Bush might still launch a war if no coup develops. But that would represent a major defeat for US policy IMHO. Many in the Administration and the military recognize the enormous risks of such an undertaking -- both short and especially long term.
