If the situation required it (for deterrence against Iraq), Saudi Arabia could have nukes in a matter of days. They could buy them from any of a half dozen countries. By the time Iraq has them, the number of countries that are nuclear armed is likely to be even larger.

This planet has a continuous, 2500 year-long history of backwards countries learning and adapting the military technologies of advanced countries. Deny it however much you wish, the trend is clear. We should plan for it instead of trying to hide from the truth, or worse, trying to sweep the tide back with a broom.

Probably the thing the single characteristic that most completely distinguishes the human animal from the others is in the perfection of imitation. Parrots are great mimics, but humans are incredible imitators.
