Hello pezz, a <<tranche>> for me is 1/3 or 1/5 part of a complete, eventual intended position size.

My eventual intended position for most shares are equal in cost at around 0.25% of gross asset, as I tend not to bet 'all' or 'remotely close to all' on any share, because I do not know individual companies as deeply as I know my clients project financial proforma (my DD comfort level for betting big).

My investment style can best be described as "allocation, high cash, occasional wildness, always the survivor). My biggest exposure now is in non-USD cash and various flavors of gold.

Occasionally I do bet big. My Softbank position started at full strength at 1% and grew to 20% of gross asset at the peak.

Chugs, Jay
