I think the Palomino situation must have improved significantly. Newegg is offering now (and has in stock) Tbred 1700.
OEM: newegg.com for $60. That's a great price for a processor consuming only 44.9 Watts typical, 49.4 Max, which I am sure has a decent overclocking potential. It is most likely Tbred A, since Tbred Bs are supposed to start at 1800.

But a surprising thing is that the Tbred are starting to come out in Retail package: newegg.com
It doesn't say anywhere that it is Tbred, but it has a product code AXDA, which means Tbred.
It is interesting that Retail Palomino is 1700 is $88:
newegg.com while Retail Tbred 1700 is $70.
