Most companies, small businesses, and organized individuals plan in advance and order supplies (like printer cartridges) so they have them on hand.

DELL's virtual integration business model has allowed it to expand into new higher margin markets (eg. servers and storage). DELL is they only one of its peer companies that is taking lots of market share -- and doing it profitably...I wouldn't bet against Michael Dell...;-)

Making money and giving it to whom?
Dell itself is making money for the management, period.
When we see growth in SE, that is making money.
Currently Dell is losing money.
Dell can make money for us, when they start improving the SE situation. I am still holding Dell expecting one of these days they will start improving SE.
Until then any increase in Dell stock prize is nothing but euphoria and cult worship.

Scott,
Hi!!

Despite what many may argue...I have always received the same answer from those at DELL who have stayed with the company for many years...It is the future and the opportunity to be a part of an organization that just may some day own it all...Call it hype or whatever you wish...I know of an individual who has repeatedly turned down prestigious offers to run this or that for large corporations with salaries that would make our mouths water...His love in life is in being the bud on the tree...Going where no other has been...
DELL is conquering wherever this company moves...Every aspect of their business model is profitable...I envy those that have that opportunity to work for management that just love to win...
I've searched for a long time looking for the means that someone/corporation could stop this model...I've yet to find a hint of how DELL can be stopped...After repeatedly witnessing their efficiencies...Knowing that they are now down to four days of inventory...Knowing they have a point basis of 10 for Operational expenditures vs. a 30-40 for the best case scenario...Their entire business has been developed for over a dozen years on the direct philosophy...All others have tried to emulate...All others have failed...Being "from Missouri" I can't imagine how DELL can be stopped from selling "tires" if they thought they could make a profit...

Best, Kemble
