First Line. I am under the impression that US planes will, very naturally, come much closer to the Irakis guns.

You know how these boys are.

Only because they have seen movies like "Top Gun" instead of reading the real holy book, or because they have been told to do so, as to get field evidence only ?

Now, more seriously, Karen, today's news do make me happy. I'd rather Bush disarms SH first.
Then...

Karen, they have been shooting at US/UK plane patrolling the no-fly zones for years. And the US/UK planes have been bombing Iraqi air control back, quite heavily in recent months. For a long time the US press ignored it (and only dot-connectors and debka readers like you-know-who noticed), but now it's getting attention -- I even heard NPR interview a pilot in the northern no-fly zone who confirmed, yes, he was getting shot at every day. Not very effectively, however, as the Iraqis have yet to down a plane.

I would suspect that the US would need more than this to start the war. But when the US is looking for a "material breach" and there's a hot situation on the ground, something is likely to happen.
