From Briefing.com: AMAT Applied Materials clarifies Q1 guidance (14.70 -0.37) -- Update -- On call, analyst pointed out that Q1 earnings guidance was a bit vague with respect to mention of restructuring charge and the small loss AMAT expects to post after accounting for it; he asked if he could assume the charge AMAT would be taking is less than $0.05 per share... CFO's response was that he hasn't done computation yet, but that if analyst did computation at $0.05 per share, that would pretty much be on the high side... AMAT -0.50 at 14.20

AMAT Applied Materials comments on Q1 charge (14.70 -0.37) -- Update -- In response to analyst question, clarifies that, while it expects to have operational profitability in Q1 (Jan), it hasn't done all of the calculations yet with respect to restructuring charge but it doesn't expect the charge to be substantial... AMAT -0.55 at 14.15

RtS, AMAT should have noted that they included the full years tax saving in Q4. The information as presented is certainly misleading.
