Unless a result of strategic mgt by LWIN to play a kamikaze role (or utter mis-management--highly doubtful under H. White), this is potentially terrible news for the growth of the wireless industry...regardless of what company you like. It erodes balance sheets of a number of embattled bell whethers while illustrating the degree of market saturation. May not bode well for the rate of adoption of 3G and the near term futures of some companies that rely predominantly on 3G revenues for growth. Someone recently posted a stock chart of RCA during the guilded age depicting how RCA had brought a brilliant technology to market (radio) and how RCA stock had initially risen over 5000% causing it to drastically 'correct' and then struggle over the next few decades in attempts to regain its value. Given the current environment, this scenario doesn't seem all that unlikely. However, with RCA, they had few, if any, incumbent technologies or competitors that they had to 'de-throne'...yet the stock price still eroded.
