The very absence of a clear American interest made what Clinton did in the Balkans sort of noble.

So its ok to push around other countries as long as we get no benefit from doing so, but if we are looking out for our own interests its automatically wrong??


Tim, so are you suggesting we should have ignored our committment to NATO and let them fight with out us?

Push around? I remember Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo in the context of a civil war with ethnic cleansing and atrocities commited on both sides but primarily on the Serbian side. This was as close as one comes to a humanitarian mission. If anything, Clinton waited too long to take action.
