Our world standing suffered greatly, as our relations with Russia and China reached all time low. There is no re-payment from the punk Schroeder or Chirac, who, together with Blair were the most gung ho. I think Bush amazingly managed to normalize the relations with Russia, but some resentment will remain. I personally know a lot of Russians, Ukrainians and other Eastern Europeans, and I can tell you about the universal disillusionment with America over the attack of Yugoslavia. Even among the people who where the most pro-American. It went largely under the radar in the US, and you are the perhaps the best example of how ignorant the Americans can be about what's going on in the world. I was there right after the bombing stopped, and I have seen anti-American graffiti all over the place. These, mind you, are places where there is not a lot of graffiti, and people were never anti-American - this is not San Francisco. Joe, so what's your point? That we should resign from NATO, or that we should no longer get into their conflicts, or the world? You clearly have trouble letting go of this argument so I would really like to figure out what your point is. Do you feel that Clinton's fight was stupid so Bush is allowed a stupid fight as well? Are you claiming that what the Serbs were doing was not that bad? That Milosevic was a good leader and he should have been left alone? As for anti American sentiment, I have been to Europe many times, and every place I've gone there's anti American sentiment. What you say is nothing new. As for me being the best example of American ignorance.......the statement is laughable and you know it. Anyway, with the Chinese it will take a generation, or we can hope that the Chinese will be as forgetful as many here in the US, and the wound will heal quicker. The Chinese?!! Frankly, I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. Do you mean the Chinese were our friends until the Yugoslavia bombings? First, how long have you lived in this country? Your conclusions don't follow the historical relationship between China and the US. And if you are worried about our relationship with China, have you objected to the spy planes we send over there? Just for the record......the Chinese and the Americans have never been kissing cousins. Secondly, I would think the Chinese would have been pleased with the NATO intervention......since their relationship historically has been with Albania and not Yugoslavia. Anyway, as you said, there are consequences. But if there is something important that needs to be achieved, that outweighs the consequences, then we may have to proceed, and deal with the consequences. As I have posted, I was not very gung ho about going to war with Iraq (if it ever was the plan), and I am more comfortable with the deliberate approach Bush administration has shown. Very different from damn the Congress, damn the UN, let's bomb Belgrade approach. Here we go again......I see where you were going. Bush is good, Clinton is bad. The same ole argument. Well, let me just say, the consequences may far outweigh the benefits to be received.Anyway, what do you mean by "the US continues down a very wrong path for which we will pay dearly". What would you have done differently? I will say it one more time.....screw Saddam. I would be after bin Laden and his gang. But you see, that's a hard one so Bush is going after the low hanging fruit. And one last thing.....what was your point about SF? Because they many don't agree with Bush, they are anti American? ted
