I hope this column by Safire gets some changes in the Homeland bill. If this goes through, we might as well let them tattoo a number on our arm. Yeah, I've already written my elected stiffs. I'm not sure it would pass muster in court anyways, but I'm not a lawyer... Derek

The irony is that it is the Christian Right that is convinced that support for Israel [and the war on Iraq and terrorism] is God's work, but it is exactly this same constituency that is convinced that the "mark of the beast" will eventually be applied to the American public.
