Exactly. Thank you Ted. Doing something because it's a moral prerogative seems to be a concept foreign to a certain mindset which seems to prescribe to the notion that one does not take action on the side of good unless there is gain in it....

The treaty is more than what you describe.......Article 5 states that if one of the member nations is attacked, then all are deemed under attack

But it doesn't specify exactly what they have to do. More importantly it does not say that members are required to attack any one another member attacks. Serbia did not attack or threaten the territory of any NATO country.

I don't think it makes it more honorable. Honorable actions are honorable whether or not our countries interest is involved. It can even be argued that it is dishonorable for the nations leadership to order men to war when our nation's interests are not threatened.
