U.S. Cuts Korean Oil Shipments, France To Cut Cheese

(2002-11-14) -- U.S. President George Bush decided Wednesday to end oil shipments to North Korea unless the Communist regime dismantles its nuclear weapons program.

French President Jacques Chirac, in a rare show of solidarity with the U.S., said his nation will halt shipments of La Vache Qui Rit cheese to North Korea.

"If America cuts the oil shipments," said Mr. Chirac, "the least we can do is cut the cheese. We have aired our differences in the Security Council, now we come together to combat this nuclear threat. Silence on this issue could be deadly."
