We have this little thing called a milk marketing order that I am sure you are aware of. The price is set for Eau Claire, WI and gets higher the farther from Eau Claire you get. So the farmers here receive the lowest price for milk of anywhere in the nation. I should say used to as there are only 7 dairy farms left in my area and 2 of them will sell out this fall. Creamery's are shutting down around here because they cant even get milk anymore. One of the farms auctioning has 150 cows on test at 22,458 lb average and doesn't feel it's worth it anymore. The best are the only ones left and they are quitting also.
