Banking, brokerage, and insurance probably are worse.
They spend all day cooking the books, at least gold
miners produce a little gold in their spare time ;)

Gold is having a lot of fun at $320,
Looks like we are up over it again, by a hair.

Dumb crooks: Thieves hijack truck loaded with copper in Chile

FULL: biz.yahoo.com

SANTIAGO, Chile, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Thieves hijacked a truck loaded with 20 tonnes of copper cathodes worth about $32,000, Chile's Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, said on Friday.

"We don't have any information about where the truck might be right now, but where are they going to go? It's kind of hard to hide a big truck like that full of copper," Jorge Sanhueza, spokesman for Radomiro Tomic, told Reuters.

A similar crime occurred about two years ago. The truck was tracked down after a few hours. Its cargo was intact.

"They weren't able to unload the copper. It was too heavy," said Sanhueza. Each copper cathode weighs about 80 kilos, he said.
