I don't know, several things seem to be happening at once. Coinciding with this new pole flip is the fact we are due for a new kimberlite age. These are volcanic vents from the upper mantle (100 miles depth) that erupt at the speed of sound through solid granite. The safest place (my guess) is to stay close to a mountain range on the interior side. Kansas has a buried mountain range running through it somewhere and that should be safe to be on top of. Stay away from old volcanic fields because they tend to be the locus of new volcanic fields.
