There are two tools to make your site searchable right now with no changes. htDig and Harvest. Full text search. You install them on the computer where you host your site with root access. If you do not have root access then you must have CGI directory access or make arrangement with your site host to install the programs. All these tools take so much management (index building, search-page writing etc..) that it is practically impossible (OK maybe there is an easy way.. not familiar enought with remote host features) ... to do it on a remote host without root access. SQL database can be built for free on a Linux or Unix machines, as mySQL is free. Pages are built by a perl script residing in CGI directory that accesses the database fields with SQL commands. Change the page? Change the database and perhaps moderate changes to script. All you pages become perl scripts and are built on the fly when clicked on. This is far faster than it sounds as the big bottelneck is not server HP, but bandwidth. Right now this site (SI) is coming to you out of perl scripts on a Linux server..or it used to be..)

Want a posting site for the public on your page? Load Hypernews on your linux or Unix server. Again you have to be root to do that. Probably have to tweak the http server and reboot (at least apache or httpd if not the actual computer.) on occasion to get it started. Guaranteed. It took me 3 days to install once. It is 80 perl files in your CGI directory. Without keyboard access it could be a trial. A faster solution and also free for your size of site is the commercial posting software "Webcrossing." A lot easier to install. I don't know if many remote hosts will accept these kind of "detached" programs though.

Bob, Fortune are all wet!

For people looking for information, fast, accurate and easy to read is the name of the game. A good search engine is really the only requirement.

When Kitco is struggling to load, your site and information come up quickly.

Keep up the good work. I hope the recent change in demeanour has helped you blow away the stress levels having to pamper to the less fortunate on the board.
Steve

Drawing gold lines in the sand;
Futures sellers at heart of bullion collapse, some say

By Thom Calandra, Editor
CBS.MarketWatch.com
Friday, November 15, 2002

"For more than a year now, each time the price of gold has flirted with $325 an ounce, New York-traded futures contracts for the metal get dumped."

"The failed bullion rallies also lead gold's believers to wonder if large banks and governments use the price to manage interest rates and ameliorate the "fear factor" that higher gold prices bring to the market."

"The truth lies somewhere other than in the conspiracy belt, say several economists, metal analysts and derivative experts."
