Al, come to think of it, even my "right-of-center" comment is a little off the mark. The picture it conjures is one where 90% of the population sits at a point on the scale that is 45% away from the right and 55% away from the left. The reality is a lot more complicated and multi-dimensional than that. I think that was discussed before on this thread. Maybe some of the regulars can even dig up the posts. Anyway, I think this illustrates how futile it was for the Dems to cater to the so-called "middle." The "balance" is an illusion, as I already explained. It's a cop-out, and that's not what Americans are asking for. Tenchusatsu
