We used to use a tool in engineering drafting a long time ago called a french curve. Actually, there were two different types. One looked like a sleigh, and I swear as I remember it, the other looked very similar to the golden spiral. Wish I still had mine cuz it wuz clear and you could just move it around to fit almost any shape you wanted. Used it for drawing arcs through several points.
