What's a politician to do? Read minds?

Politicians are elected on a very narrow list of issues...normally, those issues are not even in play...the day-to-day issues typically very practical issues...if only the "lobbyist" shows an interest and the populace remains silent...what's a politician to do?...Guess what the populace wants?...
