Gst, I voted to keep foreign discussions limited to the foreign discussion thread.
Do you have a problem with that??
If so, may I suggest you go discuss it on Billy's "new economy" thread.
Iraq has nothing to do with why NXTL or QCOM seem to be moving up.
Btw
There's been a China rally. You might want to look at it.

<<The risks involved in trying to rule Iraq directly from Washington are generally incalculable >>

You're assuming the US would 'rule' Iraq.

I would think letting them rule themselves would be a better idea. It's a much different situation from Afghan. The Iraqi people are highly literate, quite capable, have a fairly large middle class, and they never wanted a brutal dictator to be in charge of their country in the first place.

And of course they also have the advantage of a large, consistent revenue source, thier oil.

I think they'd do a fine job of governing themslves.

The possibility of Saddam fleeing to Lybia is something I had posted about here some months back. It makes perfect sense. In fact, we dont even have to capture him or kill him. Once he flees or goes underground he loses power, and a new goverment can be formed. Eventually, some Iraqi whose father or sister or son or whole family was executed by Saddam would find him and kill him.

Saddam pays Gaddafi $3 billion to give his family safe haven in Libya

Iraqi dictator plans escape route in face of US and British offensive

SADDAM HUSSEIN has made secret plans for his family and leading members of his regime to be given political asylum in Libya in the event of a war with America or a successful internal coup in Baghdad.
The extraordinary steps taken by the Iraqi leader to provide an exit strategy for key relatives and associates, which includes paying $3.5 billion (£2.3 billion) into Libyan banks, provide the first evidence that Saddam is now facing up to the prospect of being toppled from power.

I hope to go to Chongping and get back before Xmas. Have you been there before?

Chongqing, about 250 miles southeast of Chengdu, is no ordinary city. It is about three times the size of Belgium with a population of more than 30 million. It was part of Sichuan Province until it was spun off in 1997.
