It is a terrible headline. It falls into the:

"Besides that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln"

category of stupidity and ignorance.

Thanks, paul. I have to admit, the NY Times isn't usually this bad; this is headline writing by BBC standards. I am reminded of the time a Palestinian on an Israeli bus began stabbing his fellow passengers until one of the passengers pulled a gun and shot him. BBC headline: "Israelis kill Palestinian on Bus".

The other constant gripe is the line that has been repeated literally thousands of times in AP and Reuters dispatches: "Israeli <military action> Endangers Peace Process". Not only does this headline support the illusion that the peace process still lives, but the total absence of corresponding "Palestinian <terrorist atttack> Endangers Peace Process" headlines supports the PA's contention that the terrorism has nothing to do with them, they are not responsible parties. So if the peace process is in danger, it's only the Israelis' fault.
