Watch out for Senator Smith, Republican of Oregon, and Senators Specter, Fitzgerald, Chaffee, Coleman - all moderate Republicans who will work with Democrats in the Senate to oppose hard core Texas Republicans on issues like an extension of unemployment benefits into the March of 2003, opposing the permanent tax cuts, drilling in ANWR etc. They will not be able to get 60 votes to break a filibuster. They will not even get 50 votes for their hard core positions.
