If I remember my growing up history correctly, many of those young people who were in the nazi youth went on to become leaders of the post war reconstruction. I can't name names, but given that many, if not most, young people between about 7 and 17 during WWII were in the Nazi youth, and these days would be in their 60s and 70s, and were the people who brought Germany out of the post war destruction to its position of economic and democratic leadership in Europe, I think it's pretty safe to say that many of those turned out to be model citizens. Or as model as any of the rest of us.

The point I was making, to get back to that, was that people can be led badly astray in their childhood by adults and still turn out fine as adults themselves.
