They attacked civilians who had an armed guard. Most, but not all, of the dead came from the guard. They had an armed guard because they have been repeatedly attacked. These are militant Israeli settlers whose ideologic principles rival the extremism of the militant Islamists who attacked them. These radical settlers have been known to fight the IDF almost as frequently as their Palestinian neighbors. It is erroneous to suggest these religious ideological nutballs, roughly 450 of them living among 120,000 Palestinians in Hebron, can be compared to the innocent civilian Israelis living within the Green line who are attacked by militant Islamic terrorists while trying to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The settlers of Hebron are fringe elements of Israeli society with every intention of driving out and killing as many goyim as possible in the occupied territory and with any means possible.
