He likes weak women. He enjoyed pretending to be a knight, when what he really was, was a man who enjoyed ministering to perceived womanly frailty. IMO, of course. The damsel in distress, even if she is no damsel, and is hardly in distress, is still a potent symbol for men who feel impotent in, and emasculated by, the modern world.
