Afghanistan lately, and made me wonder what?s going on there.

We are finally going to pass an Aid bill, send a lot of Middle level Bureaucrats over there, with Aid Workers, to build a New Afghanistan for the poor Afghans. It will of course, be a mess, with our aid workers getting killed, and we will hear that we are in the "Quagmire" that our liberal friends love to warn us about.

Nobody, but nobody, in History has been able to do much more than hold the cities in that country. I recently read that the Afghans are already taking our Aid people to the cleaners by collecting aid money for returning there, but really staying in Pakistan or even the US. They are going to giggle, and buy estates in the south of France with our aid money just like the Russians did.

The best thing we could do is just stay out of the way, help them keep order in the cities, and let them build up the way they want to. We won't do it, of course, our "National Nanny" outlook means we must go into "Missionary" mode.
