micro-solutions.com says:
Using SYSEDIT comment out:
In the [windows] portion of the WIN.INI:
run=monitor.exe
And in the [386Enh] portion of the SYSTEM.INI:
device=vhsd31.386
-or-
device=vhsd95.386 and
NOTE: The printer will not work after removing device=vhsd95.386

extended help for this section says:
<<"Comment out" and "Remark out" refers to commands placed in front of entries in the system's configuration files that instructs the system not to load that particular entry. Microsoft's System Configuration Editor or "SYSEDIT" program will allow you to access and modify the system configuration files. SYSEDIT can be run in all versions of Windows by selecting START (or FILE from Windows 3.1 or 3.11 Program Manager), RUN and type in SYSEDIT and hit the Enter or Return key. SYSEDIT will open the system's AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI files. SYSEDIT may also open up other configuration files that the system has, but the previously mentioned four are the only ones that may need editing. To modify a particular file, select "C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT", "C:\CONFIG.SYS", "…WIN.INI" or "…SYSTEM.INI" from the WINDOW menu. This will bring the file forward to be edited.

Files that need to be commented out in the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS must have the command "REM" and a space in front of the entry.

Example.)
(Original entry in CONFIG.SYS)
DEVICE=\BPCDROM\BPCDDRV.SYS
(Remarked out entry in CONFIG.SYS)
REM DEVICE=\BPCDROM\BPCDDRV.SYS
(Original entry in AUTOEXEC.BAT)
IF EXIST BPCDDRV$ \BPCDROM\MSCDEX /D:BPCDDRV$
(Remarked out entry in AUTOEXEC.BAT)
REM IF EXIST BPCDDRV$ \BPCDROM\MSCDEX /D:BPCDDRV$

Files that need to be commented out in the WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI must have the command ";" and a space in front of the entry.

Ex.)
(Original entry in WIN.INI)
load=remind.exe
(Commented out entry in WIN.INI)
; load=remind.exe
(Original entry in SYSTEM.INI)
device=*vpd
(Commented out entry in SYSTEM.INI)
; device=*vpd >>

i have opened the wini.ini file and it contains numberous references to okipage.monitor.exe I am doing the ;space thing and rebooting. stay tuned.
