good feed back. perhaps i'm not looking at the right process.

the win2k task manager gives me a right-click option to set priority on the app... ranging in descending order from high to above normal, normal, below normal and low. the default priority appears to be normal.

i thought i'd mess around and change the setting to high and see what, if any, change resulted, but i was denied access to it... which puzzles me because i am logged in as administrator.

i think i'll shine it on for now, though i do need to do something about this 90-120 seconds of churning noise on boot up coming from my hd that never used to occur.

:)
