Eagles QB McNabb breaks ankle against Cardinals

November 17, 2002

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Donovan McNabb could miss the rest of the regular season after breaking his right ankle Sunday in the Philadelphia Eagles' 38-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Eagles said he could miss six-to-eight weeks. Philadelphia's final game is Dec. 28. ADVERTISEMENT

McNabb was hurt on Sunday's third play, when he was sacked by Arizona's Adrian Wilson and LeVar Woods. McNabb fumbled and stayed on the turf, clutching his right leg, but he returned and led the Eagles to the win.

For the first time in his career, McNabb had no rushing attempts, but he stayed in the pocket and completed 20 of 25 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns to tie his career high.

McNabb finally came out with 4:49 left.

X-rays after the game showed the break, but the team said it wouldn't be clear how much time McNabb would miss until he is evaluated in the next day or so.
