Normal/Abnormal.dot. Thanks TC, that worked just fine. To refresh memories, i had a pc that when you opened word, had a saved letter as the opening page. also, if you called for a new document, you got this same letter. Actually the document was called document1, but i think it was saved somehow and became the template or .dot. i searched for normal.dot, found it, renamed it abnormal.dot, closed word, reopened word and whammo - blank screen ready for a new file. thanks bunch. larry
