thanks for the mention of NoAds. i'm hearing from others (former joe included) that the popup stopper progs can be the cause of this. i have not tried the Ctrl key routine, and will initiate it when the behavior begins next time.

regarding, "next time again I am back to the LIST"...

i've experienced similar behavior in win2000pro, and i've managed to keep it to a minimum by doing this...

in explorer, instead of using the View menu, try Tools\Folder Options\View. at the very top of that dialog, click on the Like Current Folders button. this sets all of your folders to the same view. possibly, you may have to use the Reset All Folders button first.

as i say, nothing seems to keep the folder options locked in forever. not sure what sets them off, maybe safe mode, repair tool, installing service packs, who knows?
