Axesstel Inc. (OTC: AXES) said Monday it has signed a multimillion dollar deal with a Verizon (NYSE: VZ) subsidiary to develop and manufacture a hybrid communications device that would integrate Code Division Multiple Access with another, albeit undisclosed, telecommunications technology. Specific financial terms of the contract were not released.

Axesstel officials say the device is expected to debut in the United States in 2003.

The Verizon subsidiary is called Verizon Avenue. Axesstel develops, manufactures and markets CDMA-based fixed wireless local loop and hybrid terminals. The company is based in San Diego but has a research and development center in Seoul, Korea.
