I see where years after David Carradine's series of the 70's.now Shaolin Kung Fu is on tour in Canada, showing that the movies were fairly accurate in their depictions of feats of stoicism and strength.

During the 60's the youth of America and Europe tended towards the east a bit in music and thinking. Now they are swinging back to the right and centre, wanting to get in line and be part of suburbia. No doubt the youth in China are seduced by the prospect of prosperity and advancement so that they associate ancient philosophy and quests for spiritual enlightenment as affectation.
When the lifestyle of acquisition and endless treadmill slavery give the lie to the yearnings of the working class, then some will see, perhaps too late, that timeless values of the spirit are what make life in reflection liveable.

We live inside ourselves. What is without is drapery. No painting exceeds nature, no work of man can but poorly reflect his spirit or imitate or exceed his natural environment. Thus does the humblest of situations exceeds the palaces of Kings in that it is simple and does not pretend.

Still I like a marble floor and I cannot do without what is made for me by others.
