tc much appreciated. that is an in-depth link you provided... lots of people working on similar, though not identical, problems. i am jotting down notes and getting ideas. i am also paying attention to the multiple process occurrences in task manager, and somehow think they are related to the intermittent vanishing browser windows. i'm confident that a solution will be discovered. i'll surely post back with any findings, just to put everyone totally to sleep! <g3> thanks again :) mark
