Reliance Infocomm Ltd plans to launch (code division multiple access) CDMA-based wireless in local loop (WLL) services in different parts of the country.

The WLL services will be launched on 28 Dec 2002 with a host of features like basic telephony, multimedia and broadband. The WLL services will be rolled out in phases.

Different schemes will be launched ranging from free calls to calls charged as low as Rs0.50 for outgoing calls.

The prices for these services will be competitive as compared to other service providers including Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). The company is also likely to offer finance schemes for consumers, which will enable them to buy CDMA handsets from the franchisees.
