Nortel Passes Test:

Bangkok Post, Thailand

November 19, 2002, Tuesday (SNIP) Nortel has become the first company to pass technical tests in the bid to develop a CDMA mobile-phone network in the provinces, according to a source at the Communications Authority of Thailand

Samsung is carrying out tests this week for the CAT, which called the bid for the 15-billion-baht project.

The source said each equipment supplier was required to conduct tests for five days of its mobile switching centre, base station control, cell sites and data call network.

Two bidding groups are contending for the CDMA project.

Nortel, Samsung and Motorola have teamed with Real Time, a subsidiary of United Communication Industry Plc. Lucent Technologies is the supplier that has teamed with EPC Solution.
