LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National Processing Company (NPC®), a leading provider of merchant credit card processing and a wholly owned subsidiary of National Processing, Inc. (NYSE: NAP), announced the signing of a multi-year processing agreement with Sport Chalet, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPCH). Under the terms of the agreement, NPC will provide authorization and settlement services for all online debit and MasterCard® and Visa® credit card transactions through NPC's proprietary MultiLink platform.

Sport Chalet is a premier, super-sporting goods chain that offers the best brands of sporting goods along with dozens of value-added services, from rentals to repairs. Stores feature well-trained, knowledgeable sales associates with extensive sports experience. Sport Chalet has been a pioneer in the retailing of specialty sports equipment such as SCUBA and rock climbing gear, by providing customers the opportunity to test out the equipment or hone their skills on man-made mountains and/or in-store dive pools.

"The growth of sporting goods has been fueled by savvy retailers such as Sport Chalet," said Tim Munto, senior vice president and general manager of National Sales for NPC. "Customers like the convenience of shopping for sporting goods in a super-store environment or on-line from their homes. NPC plays an integral role in providing retailers an electronic payment processing solution that satisfies both their bottom line and their customer-base no matter how they choose to shop."

"After a thorough evaluation process we selected NPC due to their capability to provide key product management resources in support of an aggressive conversion timetable," said Howard Kaminsky, chief financial officer of Sport Chalet. "In addition, NPC has delivered on their commitment to help Sport Chalet minimize the overall cost of card acceptance."
