P.S. Terry and SpecialK, it's not just a question of sample size (at least, in my thinking :)). We are limited to working with nonstationary (okay, trending, cyclical are versions) data. I'm no expert at this.

I'll point out one problem. The public seems to be interested in (or is given) averages. Averages are only a small part of the story and can often be (usually are?) misleading.
