Sorry it doesn't use a Q chip. RBC reported the rumor that it was a Q chip on Friday after hearing the Alltel conference and Alltel and Nokia later denied it. It probably isn't even snaptrack GPS.

Is there any chance this phone uses a QCOM chip? How would we know for certain one way or the other?

I was thinking the same thing this morning despite the fact that the press releases say it's a "Nokia CDMA2000 1X chipset". It would be interesting to pull one of those phones apart to see for sure. I don't believe a damn thing Nokia says. "Nokia CDMA2000 1X with GPS" gives a rather high reading when you run it through a BS meter.

Re : "Is there any chance this phone uses a QCOM chip?" -- maybe Nokia's definition of a Nokia ASIC chip is a Qualcomm ASIC chip that has a bright pink plastic cover added to it.
