<<Ambac Has $79.4 Mln in Costs From National Century Bankruptcy
By Dan Lonkevich

New York, Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Ambac Financial Corp., the second-biggest bond insurer, will have $79.4 million, or 73 cents a share, in costs to write down the value of National Century Financial Enterprise debt.

New York-based Ambac announced the costs after National Century, a health-care financing company, filed for bankruptcy protection.

Ambac said it owned $54 million of one National Century note and $120.5 million of another, both of which were triple-A rated.

``Ambac has joined a group of bondholders that will seek to recover any losses through all means available,'' the company said in a statement. It declined to comment on its expected recovery.

Ambac's investment portfolio is valued at about $11.7 billion. >>
