It is tragic you are not a part of the process of steering the economy. No one individual can properly "steer" an economy. We all do, in our own little self interest way. This is quite a different thing than the need for a nation to have leadership. We don't need any economic leadership. To say we do is like saying that you don't know how to properly spend your money and then to add that an economic leader does. When you can pursue your interests with maximum freedom, everyone's economic welfare is served. Currency transactions are making that damn near impossible when you think of business as being competitive in multi currency global world. If business is competitive everywhere, how does that imply that free markets are failing to determine proper price as you implied above? Currency markets are the most free of all markets. Deflation is not a problem I realize that. It is wage scale inflation in a cost decreasing environment that is. Ask Japan what inflation can do. Since when is "cost decreasing" in anything a problem? This reminds me of Roach's view of Japan. It's sooooo bad in Japan because they have price stability with the added nice feature of very slow deflation. That's so bad for someone else according to hack theorists. The hack theorists don't live in the real world. They're protected by their degrees and status in society and are rewarded for their ability to commandeer attention just like Hollywood and just like clowns.
