My theory is that drugs, as a general rule are bad, they don't heal much of anything, they generally do more harm than good (with all the side effects). In general, they are there to hide symptoms. That may be true of a number of drugs but certainly there is also a large number about which it is not true. A perfect example is anti-biotics being used against a raging bacteriological infection. That is not the only example where drug treatment save lives, I think the chemotherapy my brother went through as a kid had a big impact on his surviving lukemia. Sure it had side effects but I think they where worth it. So even if individual drugs or even large categories of drugs are useless at best, and possibly do more harm then good, there are also a lot of drugs that are very important and do much more good then harm. In his argument he suggested that medical aid be minimalized to insure that no one takes advantage of the gov't and overbuys their medications. The theory being.......make the sick somewhat miserable so they won't be so demanding. I don't know who's theory it is, certainly not mine. I generally agree that drugs are not the best way to deal with a disease but to say they don't "heal much of anything" is a bit strange. While I think people become too dependent on them, I have found that they can heal. ted
