He never billed himself as an investigative journalist True he is a purveyor of opinion and commentary not investigative journalism. Here's an example of how a hit piece or rumor, by Brock in this case, gets recycled and amplified into a snowball, through small right-wing journal, then radio show, mainstream press, then a book, and into "accepted wisdon", even tho' there was no basis to begin with -- 1 - Much of what Brock claimed never became "accepted wisdom". 2 - At least some of it seems to be true. 3 - There is no evidence or even as far as I can see an accusation that Brock was acting on behalf of a government agency. It all amounts to a political hack lied. If this is shocking to you then you are suprisingly innocent. If you think you can change this through more open government then you are wrong. the right has perfected what the CIA used to call a "mighty Wurlitzer" -- a propaganda machine that can hone a fact or a lie Or to put it another way the right (as well as the left and any other large political group that can be identified) has its own spin and its own spinners... Thinly supported theories can get accepted by a lot of people. And News and opinion sources recylce each other's stories and ideas. With no factual basis, Brock trashes Hill Hill and her detractors had a similar amount of evidence. All around it was a dirty game but hardly unusual politcs often comes with mud throwing. Tim
