On Monday I attended the Supercomputer Conf in Baltimore. I saw the 3900 and took several pics. The 3900 is an amazing machine. The compute density is WOW. The simplicity of interconnect is elegant. I took several pics acute.ath.cx acute.ath.cx 128 CPU's in a single rack. An additional 1/2 rack of support equipment. 16 CPU... acute.ath.cx Inside box.... acute.ath.cx The question is, How large is the market of applications the really need this scalable dense computing. I saw the 64 CPU Itanium in a rack. Damn, I did not take pictures.... But some cool visualizations.... acute.ath.cx acute.ath.cx
