We had a parrot and had to clip his wings. That was no joke. Yellow headed amazon. We bought him because we felt sorry for him- he was living in a garage, and it was just so sad. The man who owned him was obviously afraid of him, and using gloves, put him on a stick and pushed him over and said "see, he does tricks". Awful. He hated having his feathers clipped. But he loved living with us. Until we had the first baby. Then he only loved living with Mr. X. Since I was the traitor who owned the nasty baby.
