AJ, Interesting if AOL only allows members to join the auctions as sellers and buyers.
That alone will guarantee it will be zero threat to ebay.
However if AOL makes their auctions open to all, they could become a threat very quickly.

Hi AJ,
This is an interesting development. AOL has already announced plans to develop a fixed price marketplace that would compete with eBay's Half.com and the BuyItNow feature on eBay. Not sure I understand the point about the payment system (don't think that AOL bills additional products/services to a customer's credit card, but not being an AOLer, I can't really say definitively). This will be interesting to watch.
Cheers,
Thomas
