My wife and I like talk radio and audio books on long trips...Doesn't seem to be much on XM yet for that.

There isn't. One of the problems is the well-known shows are often subject to exclusivity agreements in particular areas, so XM isn't able to get them (since they would violate the exclusivity). I don't see this changing until Xm becomes ubiquitious (which I believe it will, but not for several years).
