If there is any size to them I'll take the 'gills. Got onto a school that ran a pound apiece in '95. Good ice that year too. It was neat watching them follow the jig on the flasher.

I like to filet the 'gills and remove the rib section. Then I roll them in flour and cornmeal and freeze separately on a plate then toss into a plastic bag. I just remove how many I feel like eating, fry them from frozen and dip them in shrimp sauce.

I got caught up with my honeysuckle clearing and will add a little to the ice fishing.

I've also caught bass and catfish through the ice. Not big ones, 2 pound test isn't a match for a big fish.

I use a one man Ice Ranger, it's a 3'x4' plastic tub with a seat and bait holders molded in. It also has a framework and canvass tarp that flips over making a cozy 3'x8' place to fish. I used to use white gas or propane lamps to light and heat it but I think I'll go with kerosene lamps in the future. No WHOOMP when you light them.

I use a gas auger that cuts a 10" hole and drills about an inch a second so I cut lots of holes. I also rig 6 rods before I go. 2 jigs a foot apart. I fish with one and the other's are spares. I can't see the 2 pound test well enough to retie on the ice.

I'm usually stuck with wax worms. If I can find them the dyed Euro worms are the best.
