OT: I was fortunate to have as a 'tour guide' a close college friend who has spent the last 13 years living there as a mapmaker/artist. Consequently, we spent time on the road off the beaten path (which unbeleiveably still seems to exist). The number of visitors there now is pitifully low: 3 places we stayed at we were the only guests ( in Sanur, on our last day, i saw 5 tourists in 6 hours of walking!). Everywhere we went we were met with smiles and words of appreciation for coming and the constant chorus of "please tell everyone, 'Bail is safe'". My own sense is indeed, the time to be worried of safe travel there was proximate to Oct. 12, not now. What a phenomenal place Bali is indeed!
